Ding Junhui compiled a century and three more breaks over 70 in a 5-2 defeat of Ryan Day which put him into the semi-finals of the Rundili Wuxi Classic.
China's Ding won this tournament two years ago and was runner-up to Mark Allen last year, and is now just one match away from another final berth.
He started superbly against Day with a 108, and soon extended his lead to 4-1 with top runs of 80 and 91. Welshman Day showed his quality with an 85 in frame six, before Ding clinched the result in the next with a 77.
He now plays countryman Tian Pengfei, who followed up on his surprise 5-3 defeat of Mark Selby with a 5-1 victory over Joe Perry.
